Buddy was born on October 22, 1943, in Chattanooga, TN, but lived most of his life in Knoxville. He traveled the world while serving his country in the U.S. Navy and was retired from the Knoxville Utilities Board after 36 years. He was a longtime fan of the University of Tennessee Volunteers, attending many football and basketball games as a season ticket holder. He loved everything sports and served as both a coach and spectator to his son, Chad. Buddy also served his community at Knox Youth Sports for more than 25 years and could usually be found at the nearest ballpark or gymnasium. He was a loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather – but one of his greatest joys was being “Chief” to his grandchildren.
Buddy was loved by everyone he met and loved his family above all else. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren – taking trips to the Smoky Mountains or Cades Cove, family beach vacations or being there for every sporting event, ice skating competition or holiday get-together.
Buddy was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Donna and parents, Bud and Lucille Ragle.
He is survived by his son and daughter in law, Chad and Christie Ragle, grandchildren, Maddison and Jackson Ragle, sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Jim Leach, nieces Kathy (Cameron) Humphries and Courtney (Henry) Drury, grandnieces Madeleine and Ainsley Humphries and grandnephews William and James Drury.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Charles “Buddy” Ragle on Sunday, February 9, 2025, with a visitation from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and a memorial service to follow at Berry Highland Memorial. Friends and family may share condolences at www.berryhighlandmemorial.com.
