With heavy hearts and fond memories, we share that Connie Faye Church, a bright soul of 75 years, peacefully departed this world on Thursday, April 17, 2025, surrounded by the love that defined her life in Seymour, TN.
Connie's journey was rich with connection and creativity. A proud graduate of South High School's class of 1967, she began her professional life as a switchboard operator at Baptist Hospital in the early 1970s. Many Knoxville residents will fondly remember her as the welcoming face behind the counter of the Book Rack Bookstore in South Knoxville during the 1990s, where her love of stories touched countless lives.
As President of the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary Post 104, Connie brought her natural warmth to community service. Her artistic spirit flourished through painting, sewing, and knitting beautiful creations that she delighted in sharing with family and friends. Her home reflected her eye for beauty, filled with carefully chosen antiques and unique treasures that spoke to her appreciation for history and craftsmanship.
Though Connie has joined her parents Marvin and Helen Smith, brother Marvin "Sonny" Smith, and sister Janice James in eternal peace, the love she cultivated continues to bloom in those she leaves behind. Her devoted husband of 58 years Mike Church; her loving children Michelle Parrinello and Nick (Cassandra) Church; sister Ruth (Jim) Parton; brother Wesley Smith, and her adored grandchildren, Erica and Emma Parrinello, Will and Everlee Church will carry forward her legacy of her creativity and kindness, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends also hold special memories of Connie's generous spirit.
To celebrate the beautiful life that touched so many, family and friends will gather at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway, Knoxville, TN 37920, on Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. In honor of Connie's nurturing nature, the family suggests memorial contributions to East Tennessee Children's Hospital (P.O. Box 15010, Knoxville, TN 37901-5010) in lieu of flowers. Those wishing to share cherished memories or heartfelt condolences with the Church family may do so at www.berryfuneralhome.com.
