

Dale Ray Kerr, 69, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Leconte Medical Center. Dale was a member of Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church, where his faith was an important part of his life.
Dale served his country with honor and distinction for 20 years in the United States Navy, a service of which he was immensely proud, and which shaped the man he became. After his military career, Dale found his calling at King Water Systems, where he worked for more than 15 years. He loved his work so much that he could not stay away, retiring three separate times before finally hanging up his hat for good. In his leisure time, Dale enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—playing billiards with friends, riding his beloved Harley Davidson on open roads, and most importantly, spending precious moments with his family. His grandchildren and children held the most special place in his heart, and he treasured every moment shared with them.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Ray and Sydney Smith Kerr; his beloved grandson, Christopher Williams.
He leaves behind a legacy of love that will be carried on by his devoted wife, Melinda Kerr; son, David Flatt; daughters, Jennifer (Seth) Gottovi, Sherri (Joel) Williams, Dusti Kerr Disney, and Kristle (Jimmy) Cameron; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Greg) Keeton, Sanora Gottovi and her fiancé Jaden Padgett, Michelle Williams, Ashlyn Disney, Liam Cameron, and Sydney Spencer; brother, David (Diane) Kerr; sisters, Toni McClure and Tina (Gary) Ward.
Family and friends will gather to honor the life and legacy of Dale at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway, Knoxville, Tennessee 37920, on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. for a memorial service, a committal service will take place at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E. Governor John Sevier Highway, Knoxville, Tennessee 37920, on November 3, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., where military honors will be rendered to recognize Dale's dedicated service and sacrifice to our nation. Reverend Gregg Bostick will officiate the service.
