

SANDS, DANNY RAY – age 41 of Knoxville, passed away from this life to eternal life in heaven on February 20, 2012 at U.T. Medical Center. He fought a long battle with Cystic Fibrosis but still he’s a winner. He was of the Baptist faith. He had been employed by KUB/UMS and Skyline Trucking for many years. Preceded in death by mother Rosa Lawson; papaw Harley Sands; and mama Pauline Sands. Survived by wife Betty Cooper Sands; father and stepmother Riley and Dorothy Sands; stepfather Chuck Lawson; stepson and wife Tony and Brittney Cooper; stepdaughter and husband Tracy and Michael Walton; three grandchildren Alexis, Kaleigh, and Allie; aunts and uncles Martha and Kenny Goddard, Wanda and Charley Johnson; many uncles and a host of friends all of Knoxville. Family will receive friends at Weavers on Thursday, from 5pm to 7pm chapel service to follow at 7pm with Rev. Mike Green, Jacob Brooks, and A.J. Crawford officiating. Family and friends will meet Friday, 11:45am at Weavers to go in procession to Highland Memorial Cemetery for a 1pm interment. The family would like to offer their appreciation to all of the nurses and staff on the 9th floor and the University of Tennessee Pulmonologist Group.
