

Earl Donald Sisson, 81, of Knoxville, Tennessee went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, October 7, 2016. He served in the U.S. National Guard and attended Cumberland College in Williamsburg, Kentucky. Earl was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church for more than 50 years, serving in the early childhood Sunday school. He worked in Civil Engineering for the The Department of Transportation helping transform the East Tennessee highway system and retired after 42 years of dedicated service. Earl was an avid sports fan, following Tennessee football, Vol girls basketball and loved baseball following the Braves, San Francisco, Virginia Tech and most recently the Cleveland Indians. He loved the outdoors including gardening, fishing, hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains and especially family outings. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard Albert and Beulah Sisson and brothers, RA and Allen Sisson. Survivors to cherish his memory are his loving wife for 60 years, Tillie Ann Sisson; daughter Susan S. Lower and husband Roy, Roanoke, VA, Sara S. Steinfeld and husband Paul, Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Dr. Brittany D. Lower and fiancé, Brian Molony, Bangor, Maine, Brandon B. Lower and wife Rachel W. Lower, Roanoke, VA, Aaron S. Lower and wife Chelsea S. Lower, Roanoke, VA; Jason A. Steinfeld, Atlanta, GA.; great grand- daughter, Madison Elise Lower, Roanoke, VA; sisters, Carolyn S. Ledford, Knoxville, TN and Peggy S. Gilbert and husband Kenneth Gilbert, Knoxville, TN; brother, David H. Sisson and wife Faye Sisson, Maryville, TN; sister in law, Pat Sisson, Knoxville and several nieces and nephewsThe family wishes to thank Fort Sanders Regional Medical and Select Specialty Hospital for their amazing nursing staff and superb care, as well as Dr. Lacy Harville, Dr. Carlo Martinez, Dr. John Swisher, Dr. Eric Weaver, Dr. John Cooper, Dr. Michael Brunson, and Dr. Joshua Todd. Our gratitude is extended to all who have encouraged us through this journey with prayers, cards, and many acts of kindness.Family will receive friends at Grace Baptist Church on Friday, October 14, 2016 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm followed by a service at 1:00 pm with Dr. Ronald E. Stewart, officiating. Interment at Oak Ridge Memorial Park following the service. Honorary Pallbearers are Jim Sweet's Sunday School Class.
