

NEELEY, EFFIE LORETTA - age 93, of Powell passed away October 26, 2015. Mrs. Neeley was born March 8, 1922 in Scott Co., VA, the daughter of the late Joseph Henry Cox and Lula "Lou" Peters Cox. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Powell for 62 years. Mrs. Neeley was a devoted Christian wife, mother and grandmother and her greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her family. She enjoyed gardening and the University of Tennessee football. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Neeley was also preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband John Henry Neeley, Jr. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, James Lonzo Cox and John Henry Cox.
She is survived by her two sons, Elmer (Eddie) Neeley of Charlotte, NC and John "J.C." (Joanne) Neeley of Lawrenceville, GA; three daughters, Jewel (Joel) Nagelmann of Greensboro, GA, Joyce (Jim) Wilson of Austin, TX and Judy Neeley of Powell; seven grandchildren, Barry (Shannan) Stooksbury, Todd (Lorie) Pate, Christopher (Wendy) Neeley, Matthew (Melissa) Pate, Laura (Bob) Bishop, Jeannie (Doug) Allen and Jonathan Neeley; three step-grandchildren, Christy (Brad) Williams, Tony Nagelmann and Kit (Lori) Nagelmann; and fourteen great-grandchildren, Carmen and Madeline Stooksbury, Neeley and Sophie Pate, Katilyn and Hunter Neeley, Ryan, Natalie and Zachary Pate, Sean, Sydney and Kyle Bishop, and Abby and Tristan Allen.
