Eileen Hess James

EILEEN H. JAMES, Powell, TN, died September 12, 2011 at Mercy Residential Hospice. She celebrated her 91st birthday August 20, 2011. Eileen was born in Altoona, PA and resided in many homes in various locations. In 1985 she and her husband of 69 years, David James moved to Biltmore Forest, NC. In 2009 they moved to Powell, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Thomas James; sister, Kathleen and brother, Robert. She is survived by her husband, David James; four children, John James of Powell, TN. Stephen James, MD of Bethesda, MD, Ellen James of Powell, TN and Margaret James Koziel, MD of Needham, MA.; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was a high school classmate of her husband in Columbus (West) Ohio. She attended Capital University and was a graduate of a Commercial Art Academy. She loved playing tennis, reading, and travel with friends. Many hours were devoted to volunteering in hospitals: Kurth Cottage (Valley Hospital), Ridgewood NJ, and Mission Hospital, Asheville, NC. Eileen is a member of the Beaver Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Powell, TN. Interment will be private and local. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, September 19th at Weaver’s Chapel with Dr. Thomas Sweet officiating. Donations, in lieu of flowers, should be made in her memory to a charity of the donor’s choice or to Beaver Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 7225 Old Clinton Pike, Knoxville, TN 37921.
