Elaine was born in Knoxville, TN on July 1, 1947. She attended West High School, The University of Tennessee Hospital School of Nursing, and The University of Tennessee Knoxville where she earned her Bachelors, Masters and PhD degrees in Adult Education. Elaine always wanted to be a nurse and volunteered as a Candy Striper as soon as she was old enough. She worked at many local hospitals and taught in the LPN Program at The Tennessee State Area Vocational School.
Elaine professed her faith in Jesus at an early age and her faith grew over the years. She loved singing, playing hymns and teaching people about Jesus. She will be missed by her Jesus Girls, Wednesday Women, friends at Seymour United Methodist Church, Eastminster Evangelical Presbyterian Church and the Romanian Ministry Missio International. She loved music. In addition to playing piano for hymns in church she played old time music. For over 30 years she was the vocalist and guitar player for an Old Time String Band, the Karns Volunteer Fire Department Firehouse Band, alongside Andy Francis, Jim Stafford, Gerry Vaughn, Bob and Suzanne Young and her husband Greg. One thing that always surprised us was that no matter where the band went; retirement homes, funerals, weddings or neighborhood fish frys someone always knew Elaine.
Elaine was preceded in death by her grandmother Nolia Mabe; parents, James and Nell West; brother and sister-in-law, David and Jan West, sister-in-law, Libby and husband Dale Quattrochi. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Greg Anderson; niece, Laura Quattrochi of Birmingham Al; nephew, Michael and Rachel Quattrochi of Denver CO; cousins, Margaret and Albert Sargent of Washington NC, Jenny, Michael Ella and Evie Parnham of Washington NC; extended family, Danny and Sharon Haire of Knoxville TN, Zachary and Amanda Haire and their son Jaxon of Knoxville TN.
Receiving of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at 5pm at Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home, with a Celebration of Life to follow at 7pm.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Eastminster Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
