Elizabeth “Libby” Ann Radcliffe Styles was born May 2, 1933 in Copperhill, TN. She was a longtime member of Colonial Heights United Methodist Church. She attended Shorter Junior College in Rome, GA before moving to Washington D.C. to work for the FBI. It was in D.C. that she was introduced to her loving husband, Hubert M. Styles, who had just returned from service in the Korean War. The two moved to Knoxville to attend the University of Tennessee and married. Libby was a voracious reader which led to her being offered a part-time job at the South Knoxville Library when her children were young. From here her career as a librarian began. Working and raising three children she returned to UT to obtain a master’s in library science. She worked for the Knox Public Library System for several years and later worked as an elementary school librarian for Knox County schools where she retired. Over the years Libby had many different interests and hobbies, of which she would read about and study first, and she enjoyed gardening, baking and traveling. She played bridge with a regular group of ladies for many years and in her later years discovered duplicate bridge which she loved. Her favorite activity of the week was reading the Sunday New York Times. She was preceded in death by parents, Granvil W. and Elizabeth Hughes Radcliffe; brothers, Granvil (Bill) Radcliffe Jr and Brent Radcliffe. Libby is survived by husband of 67 years, Hubert Styles; daughters Lisa Styles (Loudon) and Amy Styles (Knoxville) and son and daughter-in-law Richard and Renee Styles (Vicksburg, MS), world’s greatest grandchildren Brent and Lex, nephews and their families Granvil and Laura Radcliffe and their daughters, Emma and Claire, Gary and Julie Radcliffe and Gavin Radcliffe; The family will receive friends Wednesday December 28, 2022 from 6-7 p.m. at Berry Funeral Home 3704 Chapman Hwy.
