

MAY, ETTA MAE “Mae May”– age 88 of Knoxville, passed away Friday, June 1, 2012 surrounded by loving family, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. She was born August 18, 1923 in Knox County to Mitchell and Vinia Clabough; she attended the Mossop School for Girls in Harriman and graduated from Powell High School. She was a member of Cumberland Baptist Church and the “Young at Heart” of Trinity United Methodist Church. After working 44 years at Robertshaw Controls, “Mae May” retired to enjoy her friends, family, flowers and visiting the elderly in nursing homes. Preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Sheldon Clabough , Margaret Castleberry, Juanita Chadwell, Mabel Clabough, Tom Clabough and Evelyn Clabough. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law Allen (Wolfie) and Sarah May, former State Representative Joe and Kathy May, and loving sisters Elsie Sorey and Vernie Upchurch. She is also survived by grandchildren Shane and Wendy May, Steven and Amy May, Robbi and Denna Kelly and Claire Williams; 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, foxhole buddies, and caregivers. The family would like to thank the staff of the second floor of Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center for its compassion and care during “Mae May’s” illness and passing.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 P.M to 5:00 P.M. June 3rd.,with a chapel service to follow at 5:00 P. M. at Weaver Funeral Home with Rev. Dr., Kerry L Bond officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:15 A.M. Monday, June 4, 2012 at Weavers Funeral Home on Western Ave. to proceed to Bell’s Campground Cemetery for an 11:00 A. M. graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in “Mae May’s” name to Cumberland Baptist Church 5600 Western Ave. Knoxville TN. 37921.
