Evelyn Irene Murphy, also known as Irene, went to be with the Lord on December 22, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on February 1, 1955, in Knoxville, Tennessee, Irene was a kind-hearted, compassionate, resilient, and faithful woman.
Irene graduated from Young High School. Irene was a devoted caregiver, and she loved her family deeply, always bringing happiness to those around her. Irene was a member of Smith Grove Baptist Church.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Terry Murphy; her parents William and Hazel Young; her brothers Ted Young, Edward Young; sister Genevieve Watts.
Irene is survived by her son, Rick (Jennifer) Murphy, and her daughter, Tracy (Lee) Slice. She also leaves behind her sisters, Frances Eddleman and Vivian Gibson, and her brothers, Howard (Judy) Young and Gene (Maggie) Young. Irene cherished her grandchildren, Matthew (fiance, Breana) Murphy, Ty Murphy, and Bella Slice; many extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends Sunday, December 28, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will follow from 7:00 pm. The committal service will take place on December 29, 2025, from 11:00 am and both will be officiated by Reverend Rick Murphy. Condolences may be offered at www.berryhighlandsouth.com
