

Faye graduated from Stecoah High School in 1950 and went on to receive her RN from the Memorial Mission School of Nursing. Her dedication to her profession and her compassionate nature left a lasting impact on those she cared for throughout her career.
Growing up in Graham County, North Carolina, Faye married Max G. Cole in 1958, and they shared 62 years of marriage. Her love for her family was evident in every aspect of her life.
Faye had a passion for sewing and needlepoint, and she was an active member of the Second United Methodist Church. She feverishly supported the sports program of The University of Tennessee. An avid animal lover, she cherished her dog, Red Chief, and her cats, Miss Kitty and Jumper. Faye also enjoyed traveling, with Hawaii being a favorite destination where she had the opportunity to meet Don Ho and Elvis.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents, James A. and Ola Lakey; her husband, Max; and her sister, Velma Rackley. She is survived by her niece, Deborah Schlunz (Jim); nephews, James and Leigh Chuber, David and Teresa Chuber; niece, Ann Chuber Dickenson (Jamie); and several great nieces and nephews.
Faye will be remembered for her kindness, her love for her family and animals, and her adventurous spirit. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at 12pm at Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home with a graveside to follow at 1pm.
