Francis Carroll Dyer Sr.

Francis Carroll Dyer, Sr., 85, departed this life on Sunday, November 26, 2017. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was employed at the University of Tennessee for over 50 years and he was a Vols Fan for Life. Francis was a Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite. He was a retired veteran of the United States Army Reserves. Francis was preceded in death by the love of his life, Ruth, his parents, Oscar and Cathryn, his sister Anna Mae, brothers Elmer and Walt. Francis is survived by his children, Francis Dyer, Jr., David (Brenda) Dyer, Kathy (Gary) Drinnen and Tina (Jim) Burkhart and 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank all of the caregivers at North Shore Senior Living and a special thank you to Shirley Hensley. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Chapel of Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service will be in the Mausoleum chapel on Wednesday, November 29 at 1:00 pm at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Francis’ honor to the Alzheimer Association of Knoxville, The American Heart Association or a charity of your choice.
