Freddie Webb

Born May 24th, 1939, at a house in Meads Quarry, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Lois and Jay Webb, and several beloved pets over the years (Champagne, George, Elbie, Herbert, Nikki, and many more).

Survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Carolyn; his son and daughter in law, Greg and Kathy Webb; sister-in-law, Kaye Hoey; niece Kim (Steve) Rosenthal; nephew Joe Davidson, and numerous family and friends.

Freddie graduated South High School in 1957, and he spent time at the University of Tennessee. He worked at the Knoxville News Sentinel, Alcoa and retired from TVA in 1999.

He loved the lakes of Tennessee, owning his first boat in 1959 (a 1957 14’ Crosby with a 40 hp Scott outboard motor). He taught countless people to ski on Douglas Lake plus spent decades on Norris Lake at both Stardust Marina and Lakeside Campground pitching horseshoes and visiting on the porch with friends. He last skied at the age of 82. Freddie and Carolyn were inducted into the Tennessee Water Ski Hall of Fame in 2023.

Thanks to Randy and Judy, who shared their beloved dog Paco this last decade. He loved working with his hands, mowing yards and doing construction projects – houses, raised garden beds and anything he could fix. His caring smile and wonderful sense of humor will be missed. Freddie is loved by all.

The family will receive friends Thursday, August 8, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the parlors of Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37920. Family and friends will meet Friday, August 9, 2024 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, 3176 Airport Hwy, Alcoa, TN for an 11:00 am graveside service.
