George enlisted in the US Army on March 13, 1970 and served with the 355th Aviation Company, Fort Eustis, Virginia. SP4. Day was a Petroleum Storage Specialist. He was honorably discharged on February 28, 1972 and transferred to reserve status with Company C, 844th Engr Bn (Con) in Greeneville, Tennessee.
Sp4 George Day, Jr. was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, sharpshooter Badge (M-16 Rifle) and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal-Korea.
Military Honors will be held at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E Governor John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37920, US, on May 6, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
