Gloria Wanda Houser, age 97, passed away at her home on September 5, 2022. She was born in Knoxville, Tennessee in February 1925, to George and Florence Adcock Cowan; the youngest of five sisters; and two brothers who died in early childhood.
Wanda graduated from Carter High School in 1943 and started her work career at Robert Shaw Fulton Sylphon Division during WW2 where she was employed for 40 years until her retirement; and where she met Curtis Houser, her husband of almost 75 years until his death in 2019. Together they worked hard and sacrificed to love and raise their four sons on the farm they purchased in 1946 which has always been home. Wanda especially enjoyed watching songbirds and other wildlife on the farm; tending her flower gardens; and cooking meals and desserts for family and friends insisting upon feeding anyone who visited her home. She always planned for the perfect Christmas morning and never forgot her large family's birthdays and anniversaries.
Wanda is preceded in death by her husband Raymond Curtis Houser; parents George and Florence Cowan; sisters Glada Cowan, Mary Cowan, Goldie Parker and Glovie Kennedy, and brothers Adlai and George Cowan.
Wanda is survived by her sons Timothy Houser and wife Golda; Mark Houser and wife Amy; Roger Houser; and Craig Houser and wife Carol; grandchildren Adrienne Diffin and husband Brian; Katie Gray and husband Jason; and Sarah Hamm and husband Travis; great-grandchildren Skyler Diffin, Trinity Diffin, Patrick Diffin, Barrett Hamm and Baylor Hamm; great-great-granddaughter Maevry Diffin; and her special step-great-grandchildren Pheonix Diffin (wife Tiffanie and his daughter Melodie) and Karlie Gray; and many nieces, nephews and their families.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donation to the charity of your choice. The family will receive friends from 12pm-1pm on Thursday, September 8, 2022 followed by a Graveside Service at Berry Highland South, 9010 Simpson Road, Knoxville, Tennessee.
