

Baker, Gordon Lee ,age 98, of Knoxville, died Monday, February 7, 2011 at home of a heart attack. Born in Claiborne County, Tenn., he was the son of the late Melvanie Palastine "Dolly" Baker and John F. Baker. He retired from Osborne Equipment Co., Knoxville. He was the husband of the late Mary Helen Hines Baker, who died May 22, 2003. Preceded in death by his sister Blanche and brothers Willie, Leonard, Martin, and Floyd.
Mr. Baker was a World War II Veteran and served in France and Germany. He enjoyed traveling, camping and following UT sports. He was a football usher for 18 years and especially enjoyed the Lady Vols BB team. He and his wife of 62 years enjoyed over 30 years of going to Florida for the winter. He was a member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church, a Mason, Treasurer of the Young High School Band Boosters.
Survived by his son, Stan, husband of Grace M. Baker of Palmyra, Pa.; grandchildren Brian of West Palm Beach, Fl.; Chris and Adam of Orange Park, Fl.; Heather and Jeremy of Knoxville,; 4 great grandchildren; niece Pat,wife of Terry Rozelle; nephews Earl Baker, Paul Baker and Gary Williams.
The family will receive friends Saturday, February 12, 2011 from 11am to12pm at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Hwy with graveside services immediately following at Woodlawn Cemetery, Rev Charlie McNutt officiating. Condolences may be offered at www.berryfuneralhome.com
