He was a member Eastwood Baptist Church. Listening in on the adversary while stationed in Japan, Jack honorably served in the U.S. Army as a Morse and Teletype Interceptor. He earned the National Defense Medal, the Marksmanship Medal and the Good Conduct Medal while serving. Jack retired from Navistar International Corporation in Detroit, Michigan where he worked as a crane operator. Uncle Jack was not a present figure in my childhood years but my father would always boast that he could be reading the paper while listening to separate baseball games on the radio and TV and could follow all the plays and know the scores. He loved his sports and he loved his blues music. Jack's dry sense of humor will be missed.
Preceded in death by father, Alvin Borst; mother, Helen Borst; brothers: James Borst, Dave Borst and Thomas Borst.

He will be laid to rest at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, Gov. John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville, Tennessee.
