

Chen, James Pai-fun, age 85 of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord Thursday November 13, 2014. James was a member of Knoxville Chinese Christian Church. Retired Professor of Medical Biology at U.T. in Knoxville. He was born in Fung Yuan Taiwan. He received his Masters Degree at St. Lawrence University and his Doctorate at Penn State. James loved reading mysteries, history and science. Served as Elder in his churches. Preceded in death by parents, Chuan Chen and Soga Lin Chen and brother, Jason Chen. Survived by wife of 50 years Metis Chen; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark Chen and Kumi Hagiwara, Jeremy and Stephanie Chen; daughter and son-in-law, Eunice and Xing Zhou; five grandchildren, Joe Chen, Joshua and Zackary Zhou, Alana and Sawyer Chen; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Francis and Martha Chen and Paul and Carol Chen; sister and brother-in-law, Chunju and Ruu Chwen Lin and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home from 1:00 to 3:00pm with the Funeral Service following at 3:00pm, Pastor Fong-Yuen Ding officiating. The Interment will immediately follow at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery.
