

King, James M., age 59, of South Knoxville, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 13, 2014 at Physician’s Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. He was a 1972 graduate of Young High School and currently employed at Physician’s Regional Medical Center in the Emergency Department where he worked for 43 years. Jim was instrumental in the design of the Emergency Department on two different occasions. He was currently serving as chairperson of the East Tennessee Victims Rights Task Force. He touched countless lives through his work. Jim was preceded in death by parents, Jesse and Wanda King; brother, David Ray King; and mother-in-law, Reva Jeanette Golden; He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Cheryle King; daughter and son-in-law, Tabitha and John Godfrey; daughter, Allison King; grandchildren: Keegan, Zoe, Issaiah, and Mackinsley Godfrey; Joshua Michael King, CarLianne Nicole Dunaway; and Caleb JT Ray King-Dunaway; brothers and sisters-in-law: Johnny and Judy King; Tom and Donna King; sister, Lois Kaserman; brother, Paul King; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Doug and Jo McMillan; special uncle and aunt, Johnny and Barbara Jackson; several nieces and nephews; “adopted” children: Jayna Scott, April Elmore, Sierra Oakley and children Spencer Oakley and Destiny Wyrick; Rob Clater; Crystal Wagoner; and a host of friends including his Emergency Department and hospital “family”. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff, especially the Emergency Department Staff including Dr. Bruce Irwin and Dr. Fred Ergin, the ICU Staff, and Chaplains at Physician’s Regional Medical Center and also Dr. Henchen, and Dr. Stauber for their care and concern during Jim’s illness. Family will receive friends on Friday, January 17, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 8:00 PM, Rev. Tom King and Rev.
