
James Edward Lampkin, age 70 of Maryville, TN, died November 19, 2016. Son of Harold and Evelyn Lampkin, passed away at his home on November 19, 2016 after several short hospital stays. James served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He retired many years ago, but wanted to give back to his community by serving as a volunteer as well as Chairman of Volunteer Services at Blount Memorial Hospital, while there he got great joy in providing prayer to everyone in need that he came in contact with and loved handing out snacks and toys to the little children in the emergency room. He will be greatly missed by his neighbors in the historic district around Maryville College and attendees at the several group meetings that he attended within Blount County. He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Michael Woodby (Janet); son, John Lampkin; 4 grandchildren, Mrs. Robert Livermore (Janisha), Travis Woodby, Baylee Woodby, and Haley Lampkin; 3 great-grandchildren Ava, Stella, and Charlee Livermore, all living in the Maryville/Knoxville area; brothers, Harold Lampkin (Spider), of Knoxville and David (Dianne) Lampkin, of Meridianville, Alabama; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful companion, Gizmo. The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 23, 2016 from 12:00pm until 2:00pm at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway, with service to follow at 2:00pm, Rev. Terry Stinnett and Rev. Harry Howard officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Condolences may be offered at www.berryfuneralhome.com.
