Joe Ely

Joe was born on November 3, 1953 in Bridgeport, AL. He was a graduate of Rogersville High School class of 1971. Joe enlisted in the Army and served proudly from 1974-1979. He went on to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tennessee in 1981. Joe specialized in Nuclear plants which resulted in living in many parts of the country but he always called Tennessee home. Joe was a helicopter pilot as well a private pilot for small aircraft. He loved flying and taking his wife on many, many adventures.

Joe is survived by his wife Anne of 28 years. One son, Abraham (Ace) Cecil Ely of Monterey, TN. Two stepdaughters, Brandy Leinart Ream and Mallory Leinart Mink of Paoli, IN. One stepson, Matthew Patterson of Corpus Christi, TX. One brother, Danny Ely. Two sisters, Janet Ely Robison & Virginia Ely Wright. Nine grandchildren, one great-grand child, four step-grandchildren and one step-great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents, Malcolm & Madeline Ely and daughter Debbie Buehler-Ely.
