I transfered from McDonald's West Morristown, to Cedar Bluff in 1993.  Worked there till 1997, when I moved to Columbus, OH.  Joe was more than just my Boss.  He taught me the value of hard work.  But he was like a second Father to me. I remember spending the night with Donna when it was going to snow.  Joe, Donna and I would go and open the store to make sure people had somewhere to stop and get fresh coffee. I think of Donna like a sister. I was blessed to see him a couple of years ago.  Time gets away from us, things like this bring us back to remember our past.  Joe you will truly be missed.  My thoughts, love and prayers are with Donna and her family.

I am so honored I got know Joe, not only from working for him at McDonald's but also through his son Jon-Eric.. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. My prayers are with his family through this heartbreaking time.

I worked briefly for Mr. Shellnut in 1970 while attending college. He understood the value of work and doing it right. He expected his employees to be fruitful. But he was always clear and fair about what he wanted. And when the time was right, he had a real sense of humor! I had a lot of respect for him and always thought of him when driving down Kingston Pike. I appreciate that opportunity to work for him and what I learned.

I am sorry for your loss and I will be praying for your family during this time.

I grew up in concord tennessee. my best friend was Mr. Shellnut's Daughter Bonnie. I remember Mr. Shellnut. He was the kindest man. I always thought of him as a big Teddy Bear. Joe and Donna taught me the value of hard work. Joe made it possible for me to receive the Cochran Family Scholarship and attend UT. He ran a tight ship and I believed changed the lives of many who knew him. I was blessed to see him often at Shannondsle.  May God comfort you as only He can.
