
Morris, John Finley, age 27, of Knoxville, passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2011. He was a member of Church Street United Methodist Church. He graduated from Seymour High School in 2001 and attended Carson Newman College, Walter State Community College and the University of Tennessee, as a psychology major. He worked 2 years with Johnny Long in the football strength training department at U.T., a job he dearly loved. He subsequently volunteered to help in the football administration department at U.T. while he was taking classes. John was a gentle, kind and loving young man. He loved animals, especially his 2 cats. He frequently helped take care of his mom’s dogs, also. He had a very special relationship with Jennifer Gibson and was able to laugh and enjoy life with her. Preceded in death include grandparents, John “Bud” and Jackie Murrie; Aubrey and Dorothy Morris. Survived by mother, Linda J. Helsel and stepfather, Dr. Robert A. Helsel; father, David E Morris and stepmother, Carol M. Morris; brother, Benjamin Morris, of Franklin, TN and significant other, Beth Lasiter; nephew, Eli Morris; brother, Chris Morris and wife, Charity, of Powell, daughter, Keelin and son, Chris Stout; brother, Brian Morris and fiancé, Terri, of Knoxville; stepbrothers, Eric White and wife, Megan and son, William, of Cincinnati, OH; Aaron White and wife Katheryn of Salt Lake City, UT; several aunts, uncles and cousins. A service will be on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at Church Street United Methodist Church, with Rev. Charles Maynard, Rev. Andy Ferguson and Father Michael Woods officiating. Interment will follow at Highland South Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 18, 2011 at Berry Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Young-Williams Animal Shelter, 3201 Division St., Knoxville, TN 37919. Pallbearers will be Ben Morris, Chris Morris, Brian Morris, Eric Guenther, Bill Guenther, Lucas Bolton, Lorna Bolton, Aaron White, Eric White and Chris Stout.
