Judy Lynn (Tidwell) Carter, age 80, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on Sunday, July 27, 2025, concluding a long life filled with faith, love, and caring for all she touched.
Born January 29, 1945, in Blount County, Tennessee, Judy was a Mother, a Grandmother, and a devoted wife of the late Jim Carter, Sr. of Karns. The beloved daughter of the late Clyde and Floy (Cox) Tidwell of Alcoa, she enjoyed her time as a Brownie and Girl Scout, played basketball at Springbrook Elementary. She was a proud graduate of Alcoa High School, Class of 1963 where she played the clarinet in the marching band and later earned her degree as a Registered Nurse from the East Tennessee Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1966. Her calling in life was clear: to care for others.
Judy devoted her life to God, her family, and serving patients as a Nurse in the field of Nephrology, working in a wide variety of clinical settings across the country. She was a published nurse and was frequently called upon to evaluate materials and circumstances for other dialysis and nephrology providers. She founded and operated a dialysis consulting and services company alongside her late husband, Jim Carter, Sr. combining their medical, clinical, and business expertise with a passion for helping others learn the best way to provide care. Her intelligence, compassion, and fierce dedication made her a trusted colleague, a faithful friend, and a comforting presence to countless patients and families.
A woman of deep faith,Judy was a longtime member of Knoxville Christian Center, where she worshipped and served faithfully whenever she was able. She had a warm, generous heart and lived a life filled with kindness, humility, and purpose. Her love for her family was boundless, and her strength and grace left an indelible mark on all who knew her. These qualities were only surpassed by her unwavering and unending love and faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Jimmy Carter, Jr., and his wife Kristi, who was not only her daughter-in-law but a loving and devoted bonus daughter in every way. Judy was a proud and adoring grandmother to Gavin and Grayson, who were the light of her life.
She is also survived by her brother, Gene Tidwell of Inverness, Florida (formerly of Alcoa, Tennessee), and his wife Rebekah; niece Cheri Green (Todd) and their children, Kamdyn, and Rebekah; and nephew Scott Tidwell (Christy) of Alcoa, Tennessee, and their children, Lilly and Rose.
She leaves behind a large and loving extended family, along with dear friends and church family members who will miss her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering faith.
