Judy Katherine Hankins Rogers, went home to heaven after a well lived and well loved life of 84 years, reuniting with her beloved husband Jerry, who has been waiting there for her, along with her parents John and Trula Mae Hankins and siblings Bob Hankins, Jerry Hankins, Ronnie Hankins, Mary Ann Hankins Turner, Janice Hankins Loveday and Jon Hankins. They and many other family members and friends are all there to welcome her, as the Lord embraces her into his kingdom after a dedicated life of love, kindness and giving to others. Judy leaves behind two daughters, Pamela Beth Rogers and Jennifer Leigh Rogers, who are blessed and grateful to be hers and will carry her in their hearts forever; sisters Liz Hankins and Wanda Ailor who she cherished; many nieces and nephews she loved dearly and friends she has treasured throughout the years.
Judy was born in 1941, raised in Knoxville and graduated from East High School in 1960. After graduating she married the love of her life, Jerry Mack Rogers, and their adventure that was to span over 56 years began. She traveled the country with him throughout their marriage, living in Washington, Alabama, Georgia and Louisiana before returning home to Knoxville to raise their girls.
Judy epitomized grace, strength, kindness throughout her life and was determined and spirited. She worked throughout her life starting at age 16 in the record department at Rich's in downtown Knoxville, going back to school later in life and retiring from Abercromby Radiology.
Judy loved and devoted herself to her family, and with her humor, patience and loving ways created a sweet, close-knit, magical and well-loved life for them, one centered by her wisdom, love and goodness.
Her gentle spirit and quiet strength, along with the best sense of humor, were a blessing to all who knew her, and everyone who knew her loved her.
May she be away from the pain and grief she endured in life, and surrounded by the peace and light and joy her sweet soul so deserves.
Special thanks to our caregivers Crystal and Tracy, 3rd floor nurses at Parkwest hospital and everyone at Amedysis Hospice. Though it was a brief time, the kindness, compassion and caring you showed was appreciated more than you will know.
Family will receive friends Friday from 5-7 pm at Weaver Funeral Home.
Family and friends will meet 2:45 pm Saturday at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery outside the mausoleum at Whispering Waters for a 3pm interment.
