
Kenneth Edward Spoon, age 79 of Damascus Maryland, passed away May 12, 2021 at Casey House Hospice in Maryland, following a series of brain hemorrhages.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Willard Spoon and Dorothy Lourene Spoon. He is survived by his wife, Betsy Anne Riley; his sister Lorene Goodlin (Joe), his 3 children: Jeff Spoon (Christy), Michael Spoon (Shelly), and Deborah Jeffries. He has 4 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and 2 nieces.
Born in Knoxville, Ken Spoon retired after decades with the News-Sentinel advertising production department. He was active for years in the Karns Lions Club. He also worked for a private investigation agency, with proficiency in background checks and electronic surveillance. In addition to his experience in print ad composition/makeup, he was an expert in digital media (CD and DVD production). He was co-founder/owner of Academy Ballroom Knoxville. Ken enjoyed golfing, hiking, and had a black belt in karate (Korean style). He moved to Maryland in 2010 when his wife, Betsy, retired from ORNL to take a job at DOE.
Family and friends will meet Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 1:45 pm at Lynch Bethel Cemetery for a 2:00 pm graveside service. Condolences are welcome at weaverfuneralservices.com.
