Kurt Andrew Rosenberg passed away unexpectedly on January 31, 2024, age 56, in Knoxville, TN. He was born on May 11, 1967, in Racine, WI, to Roger and Patricia Rosenberg. He is preceded in death by his parents. Kurt is survived by his wife, Christa Rosenberg of Knoxville, TN; his daughter Anna Rosenberg of Los Angeles, CA; and his daughter Erin (Bennett) Freeman of Greenville, SC. He is also survived by his sister Lynn Stowe, of Greensboro, NC; and his brother Dr. Dean (Liz) Rosenberg of Racine, WI.
Kurt was a wonderful husband, father, friend, and leader. He inspired everyone around him with his quick wit and goofy humor. With his gentle wisdom, he was always happy to listen and encourage others. He was a pensive man who loved Jesus above all, faithfully served and protected his family, generously shared his possessions, and always found fun and adventure.
Kurt spent most of his career working at Rockwell Automation. His many roles there took our family around the world—Baltimore, MD; Lansing, MI; Detroit, MI; Seoul, South Korea; Singapore; and Milwaukee, WI. Since 2016, he has worked as the CEO of OLDI in Knoxville, TN. In every role he held, he exuded dedication, warmth, and servant leadership. He was a collaborative leader who would listen first, understand, and then work to influence positive change wherever he could.
More recently, Kurt was honored to serve as a group leader with Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) in Knoxville. He was involved with BSF for many years throughout his life, and even helped found the men’s BSF group in Seoul, South Korea. He cherished the depth of study and relationships he formed at BSF.
We are mourning together as a family. He will be sorely missed by friends and colleagues around the world.
Despite the completely unexpected loss, we can find peace in that he is whole and healed with his Lord and Savior. The core of Kurt was to love God and to love people. He was able to love us well because he first experienced the perfect love of God. You probably felt the love of Jesus through Kurt. He would ask you: how do you respond?
“We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment.” Romans 5:3-5.
All our needs are being met by our amazing friends here in Knoxville.
For those that are able, we would be honored if you would join us for Kurt’s Celebration of Life. We will gather on Tuesday, February 6 at 4:00 PM for visitation and at 5:00 PM for a service. We will share some finger foods and fond memories following the service. Everything will be held at Sevier Heights North Campus (3446 Lake Crossing Ln, Knoxville, TN 37920).
