Lawrence Winford Hurst, age 85, Knoxville, TN died peacefully in his home in the loving care of his wife, Sue, on April 10, 2023. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a member of Meridian Baptist Church in Knoxville, TN. Lawrence served in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over fifty years. He served the Knoxville community as a fireman and later at the Knoxville Post Office Credit Union, from which he retired.He was preceded in death by his first wife of 61 years, Phyllis Jones Hurst; parents, Victor and Mae Hurst; son, Richard L. Hurst; and parents-in-law, Robert Orville and Anna Jones. He is survived by his wife, Sue Miller Hurst; daughter, Penny (Ronnie) Hickman of Knoxville; son, Michael (Kristi) Hurst of Blaine; and daughter-in-law, Toni Hurst of Knoxville; step-children, Gary (Karen) Miller of Knoxville; Tammy (Joe) Sweeney of Lenoir City; Chris (Sabrina) Miller of Clinton; Brian Miller of Knoxville. His grandchildren: Jessica (Jimmy) Parks, Rebekah (Joshua) Rogers, Chris (Jennifer) Hickman, Jacob, Jeb, Millie-Beth, and Madeline Hurst, and step-grandchildren Beth and Ellis Sweeney, Kiara Cox, and Rebecca Pack. Great-grandchildren: Milo Rogers and Madelyn Parks. Siblings Alza Cope and Bill (Mary Sue) Hurst, along with several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Wednesday April 12, 2023 at Berry Funeral Home 3704 Chapman Hwy from 5-7 p.m. Family and friends will meet Thursday April 13, 2023 at Berry Highland South Memorial Gardens for a 1:00 p.m. graveside service.
