Lendon Jerald Welch, 84, of Knoxville, left this world and entered eternity with his loving wife, Charlotte, on August 7, 2017. Lendon was born on January 19, 1933 to the late Clifford and Evelyn Welch in Welch’s Camp, Tennessee. He attended Jellico High School and honorably served his country in the United States Army. He received his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Tennessee, and his Master’s degree at Tennessee Tech. Each of these milestones led him to a lifelong career at Farragut High School where he coached baseball, basketball, track, and football. Lendon was a loyal husband, father, brother, coach, friend, and mentor to many. After retiring from teaching, Lendon spent his time fishing and talking to his neighbors, but his greatest passion in life remained his love of family and friends… a man who never met a stranger. The Farragut community has lost a man who truly loved where he lived and felt grateful to have inspired all the children, parents, and coworkers that he came to know through the years. Lendon leaves to cherish his memory his son, Mark Welch (Carrie) of St. Louis; daughter, LeAnn Mowery (Larry) of Ooltewah; grandchildren, Daniel, Evan, Nora, Tyler, and Tanner; sisters, Sherril Langdon, Joleen Hare, Bobbie Chilcote, and Reece Welch; many nieces and nephews and many lifelong friends. A Funeral Service for Lendon and Charlotte will be held at 2:30 pm Sunday, August 13, at First Baptist Concord, 11704 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN, 37934. Interment will follow at Berry Highland West Cemetery, 9913 Sherrill Blvd, Knoxville, TN 37932 with Military Honors. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 12, from 3 to 6 pm in the chapel of Berry Highland West Funeral Home.
