

BYRD, LEROY - 79, of Knoxville, passed away Thursday June 5, 2014, following an illness. Mr. Byrd was born in Tennessee to the late Melvin and Josephine Alred Byrd and had lived in the Knoxville area for 50 years. He was a retired boilermaker/welder with over 30 years service at TVA. Leroy was a member of Boilermakers Local 453, and had served in the US Army in Korea. He was a member of Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Knoxville. Mr. Byrd is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sara L. Byrd; son, Randy Byrd; daughters, Janet Reynolds, Sherry Bergholm and husband Norm; brother, Tony Byrd and wife Sue; sisters, Pearl Ackers, Corrine Robertson and husband Jimmy; three grandchildren; Matthew Dyke and fiancée Lauren, Ashley Bergolm and fiancé Lee, Ronnie Lee Reynolds and fiancée Erica; two great grandchildren, Ronnie Reynolds and Skyler Dyke. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon Saturday, June 7th, with services to follow at Highland West Memorial Park Funerals and Cremations Chapel 9913 Sherrill Blvd., Knoxville. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 400 Everett Road, Knoxville TN, 37935.
