Lou King Thomas, 92, of South Knoxville, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2016. She was a lifelong member of New Prospect Presbyterian Church. Lou loved her family (especially her three granddaughters), Peyton Manning, afternoon naps, and margaritas. She was an avid bowler, a great cook, a fashionista and may very well be the funniest person who came out of South Knoxville. Lou was preceded in death by her parents Audley and Ella King; her brothers Orville, Burnett, and Billy; sisters Evelyn, Berniece, and Elnora; husband Murrell Thomas and second husband Larry Smith. She is survived by her sister, Peggy Henry; her daughters Suzanne Thomas Hine (Gene), and Patti Thomas Cotten (Stan); her granddaughters Alyson Richards, Annie Cotten, and Jessie Cotten; much-loved nieces and nephews; and special “family” Sally Woods and Mike Smith and daughters Katie, Natalie, and Julia. The family would like to recognize the staff of Morning Pointe Assisted Living - Lenoir City for their extraordinary love and compassionate care that never wavered during her time there. The family will receive friends Sunday, September 25, at New Prospect Presbyterian Church in South Knoxville from 1:30 to 3:00, with a celebration of her life immediately following. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to New Prospect Presbyterian Church or Alzheimer’s Tennessee, Inc. Condolences may be offered at www.berryfuneralhome.com
