Mary Frances Floyd, 91, of Knoxville, departed this world on her wedding anniversary, Monday, December 23, 2024. She is reunited with her husband, J. Lewis Floyd, and is resting in the presence of her Lord. On Friday, January 3, 2025, there will be a visitation from 1 PM to 2 PM and a Christian Burial Service from 2 PM to 3 PM at Berry Highland West, 9913 Sherrill Blvd, Knoxville, TN, 37932.
In addition to her husband, Fran is preceded in death by Ella Mae Gardner and William Andrew Gardner and her siblings Eileen, Joan, Harold, Robert, Benton, and Rosalyn. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Andy Bickers; her son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Kelly Floyd; and her son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Dorry Floyd. She was blessed with many grandchildren: Samuel, Benjamin and his wife Abbey, Abigail, Audrey, Rowan, and Sadie. Her sister Lois has been a lifelong friend and prayer partner. Fran also had many wonderful nephews and nieces.
Fran often talked about how her sister Eileen invited her and Lois to church to meet Jesus. She accepted Christ as her Savior at age 12 and says that changed the course of her entire life. Fran was a member of First Baptist Church in Concord and made many dear friends over the years in her Seniors Sunday School class. She also spent many years serving in the Christian Women’s Club.
Someone said “Fran and Lew appeared to really enjoy life.” And they did. They loved traveling, hosting parties, spending time with family, and laughing. They lived in Germany, Illinois, New York, and New Jersey before returning home to Tennessee. At each place, Fran learned recipes for main dishes and desserts from various cultures. She loved cooking for family and friends.
She also loved to decorate, and Christmas was one season where she transformed the entire house into a winter wonderland with plenty of Nativities, Snowmen, Santas and more. Her garage was filled with multiple craft projects from across the years. Additionally, she was a master fundraiser for various charities throughout her life.
She will be deeply missed, and we look forward to that great Day of Resurrection.
