Marie Williamson Bunn

Marie Williamson Bunn was born September 1, 1926 in Lolita, Texas to W.O. and Sally Williamson and left this world on March 12, 2021. She was the youngest daughter and 14th child of 15 siblings. In such a large family, everyone had to have a chore and her first memory was being the biscuit maker. She wasn’t tall enough to reach the counter, so she used a stool to mix the ingredients. She became an expert at not only making biscuits but cooking as well. So many friends and family would request her recipes through the years that she ended up putting together a book of her favorites. If you were lucky enough to receive one, it was highly treasured.

Marie married Gideon Harrison Alsup but was widowed at the age of 36 with four children. Her beauty salon in South Knoxville, Marie’s Hair Fashions, was the place of many 60’s and 70’s hairstyle memories.

She was blessed to find love again with her husband of 47 years, Dr. Raymond Clyde Bunn. His three daughters and her three daughters and son became a blended family which eventually added 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

As a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, she shared another of her hobbies by making quilts for Lutheran Mission World Relief. The quilts she made for family members are beloved and used frequently from picnic blankets to snuggling sessions.

Preceded in death by husband Raymond C. Bunn and grandson, Christopher J. Sparks. Survived by her children Sandra Alsup ( Kurt Kemper), Donna (Kenny Shinlever), Harrison Alsup ( Laurie), Sherry Alsup (John Murphy), Claudia Montgomery (Barry), Carol Sparks, Laura Webster (Greg), grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held on Monday, March15, 2021 at Woodlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Marie's honor to, Messiah Lutheran Church, 6900 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919.
