

Marion S. Rives, a devoted wife, mother, and lifelong fan of the Buffalo Bills and University of Tennessee Volunteers, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025. She was born November 7, 1938 in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was a beloved member of her family and community, known for her warmth, sarcasm, sense of humor, engaging laugh, unwavering loyalty, and infectious enthusiasm for football—whether cheering for the Bills on Sundays or the Vols on Saturdays.
Marion was preceded in death by her beloved parents, William A. Boatwright and Rachel C. Boatwright, her husband, William Edward Rives; brothers, Clint Curry, Andrew J. Boatwright, Wilbert J. Boatwright, William Boatwright, Vernon Boatwright, and Alvin Boatwright; and sisters, Rozina South, Katie E. Thompson, Betty J. Boatwright, and Rachel D. Boatwright.
She is survived by her daughter, Leslie S. Rives of Knoxville, TN; sons, Kerry Rives of Knoxville and Jason Rives of Las Vegas, NV; niece, Daphne Boatwright; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews, and dear friends who were blessed to know her.
Marion's love for her family, friends, her teams, and the simple joys of life will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
A Gathering of Friends will be held at Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, December 18, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to a charity of your choice in Marion's memory.
