New Orleans, LA. He grew up in Portland and Fayetteville, TN, and lived briefly in Franklin, KY.
Mark attended Belmont College in Nashville and graduated from Southern College of
Optometry in 1975. He practiced optometry in Germantown, Brownsville, and Knoxville, TN. For
the last 30 years, he practiced optometry at Wal-Mart Vision Center in West Knoxville. Mark
knew he wanted to practice optometry from a very early age. He set his goals and met them
with much dedication and commitment. In 1972, he married the love of his life, Linda Rebecca Moore Fleming.
Together, they celebrated 45 blissful years of marriage and were blessed by five wonderful children. Mark and
his family enjoyed camping in the Smokies and many beach trips to Gulf Shores, AL. Mark loved
football and never missed watching a UT game. He attended many soccer, baseball, and
basketball games and wrestling matches of his children. Any description of Mark would be
incomplete without describing him as a great lover of music; specifically, anything written from
1960 through 1979. He knew the words to all the pop songs and listened to them with great
passion, even though he had heard them countless times. Mark is survived by his wife, Linda; five children—
Stacey Klidzejs (Mike) (Murfreesboro, TN), Todd Kelly Fleming (Jhoma) (Rockledge, FL), Ashley Blake (Chris)
(Paso Robles, CA), Cameron Moore Fleming (Vanessa) (Knoxville, TN), and Mark Elliott Fleming (Knoxville, TN);
sister, Ellen Fleming-Hughes (David) (Plano, TX); (deceased parents), Gene and Juanita Fleming (Knoxville,
TN); and in laws—Will and Bobbie Moore (Columbia, TN), Beth and Louie Dunn (Columbia, TN),
and George and (deceased) Debbie Hannah (Bartlett, TN). He is also survived by six
grandchildren, Aidan, Canon, and Quinn Fleming (Rockledge, FL); Addie and Brody Blake (Paso
Robles, CA); and Sylas Fleming (Knoxville, TN), and by numerous nieces and nephews and one
grandniece. Funeral services will be at Berry Highland West on May 8, 2017. Receiving of family and friends
begins at 11 am, and funeral services begin at noon, officiated by Dr. Larry Fields. Mark, you will be missed.
Rest in the arms of Jesus. We love you.
