

Chasteen, Marvin James, age 82, of South Knoxville, passed away Monday, May 28, 2012. He was a member and deacon of Westside Baptist Church. Marvin was a very loving husband, father and grandfather, and a friend to all who knew him. He was Scout Master of Boy Scouts for 15 years, a member of the 25 Year Club and retired from Alcoa Aluminum Co. Marvin was a Veteran of the United States Army who served in the Korean War. Preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Chasteen, the love of his life for 60 years; parents, James and Anna Mae Chasteen; Survived by sons and daughters-in-law, James E. and Vickie Chasteen, Randall W. and Judy Chasteen; daughter, Cynthia Chasteen Bennett; grandchildren, Brent and Brad Chasteen, Brandi Kern, Steve and Chasity Bennett, Misty Stephens, and Heather Chasteen; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers and wives, Ronald and Wanda Chasteen, and Don and Cathy Chasteen. The service will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Hwy., with Rev. Buster Gibson officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m., prior to the service. Family and friends will meet on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Mt. Olive Cemetery for a 1:00 p.m. interment service.
