M.J. Silva

Mary Judith Silva, age 63, of Oak Ridge, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Methodist Medical Center. M.J. was born April 20, 1954 in Harriman, TN. Graduating early, she was a 1972 graduate of Oak Ridge High School. M.J. married her high school sweetheart in 1973 and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in California soon after. She graduated with honors with an Accounting and Finance degree from San Jose State University in June of 1986. Following graduation, she began her career in the Audit Department with Touche-Ross & Co., Accounting Firm in San Jose, CA. In 1988, M.J. was promoted into management and in 1990 she was hired by Toshiba America Corp. as V.P. of Finance. Following her work at Toshiba, she became the Corporate Controller for various Silicon Valley Corporations. M.J. was a pioneer of women’s achievement in her field of accounting and finance. She retired in 2010. M.J. is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Robert J. L. Silva, Clinton, TN; son, Robert J. Silva and wife Kristie, San Jose, CA; daughter, Jessica E. Hotchkiss and husband Charles, Clinton, TN; granddaughters, Hope Lane Silva and Amanda Elaine Hotchkiss, San Jose, CA; sisters: Sharon Jefferson and husband Bobby, Terra Harte, IN.; Peggy Godwin and Husband Fred, Baton Rouge, LA; Arrie Lee Eason, Vashon Island, WA; brothers: Hoyt Eason and wife Lynn, Oak Ridge, TN and David Eason and wife Marcie, Signal Mountain, TN. M.J. is also survived by numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Friday, January 19, 2018 at Berry Highland West Funeral Home, 9913 Sherrill Blvd., Knoxville, TN 37932 with service to follow at 7:00 pm, Rev. Danny Davis officiating. Private entombment will occur Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
