

She was a longtime member of South Knoxville Baptist Church. Nancy graduated from South High School in 1964 where she was a member of the band. She was an avid swimmer, water skier, and shopper. In 1968, her parents, the late Bunt and Helen King opened up Ye Olde Steak House, where she became a familiar face. She worked in the restaurant until 2012, when she began losing her eyesight, becoming totally blind around 2015.
Nancy loved trips to Las Vegas and Cherokee where she could play her slot machines. She loved UT Football and enjoyed listening to all UT sports on the TV. Her favorite show was "In the Heat of the Night", and she was a big country music fan.
Preceded in death by her father, Burnette (Bunt) M. King; mother, Helen Cunningham King; nephew, Hugh Ray (Hank) Wilson, Jr.; niece, Whitney King Jinks; and brother-in-law, Hugh Ray Wilson.
She is survived by her son, Scott Gibson; brother, David King; sister-in-law, Robin King; sister, Cheryl Wilson; nieces, Amy and Erin Wilson, Ashley Colburn, and Lauren Knox; and grandsons, Josiah and Shea Gibson.
Family and friends will gather at Ye Olde Steak House on Sunday, October 5, 2025 between 2:00 - 5:00 PM to share memories and celebrate her passage to Heaven, where she can live peacefully in the Lord's arms for eternity. Rev. Mark Williams to officiate.
