

Ware, Nancy Alice McCall, age 78, died January 16, 2015 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. Nancy was a 1955 graduate of Young High School and a 1959 graduate with a B.S. from the College of Home Economics at the University of Tennessee. She worked for over a year as a Home Service Representative for the Appalachian Power Company, Abingdon, Virginia, until the birth of her daughter Lynn. She was a schoolteacher for 32 years, 29 of which was a resource teacher, at Beaumont Elementary, Knoxville. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Knoxville, a choir member for 35 years, and was also an active member of the Pilgrimage Sunday School Class. As a former member of the Knoxville Track Club, she won many awards and trophies in her age group in various road races. Upon retirement, she participated in activities with the United Methodist Women and the Martha Washington Garden Club. As a former member of the Knoxville Ski Club, she traveled to many places on ski trips and attended other functions. Nancy also traveled with her husband to many places in the United States and abroad. She was preceded in death by parents Raymond Sheddan and Mamie Woody McCall. She is survived by her husband of over 56 years, Howard R. Ware, Jr.; daughter, Dr. Lynn Ware Driver of Brentwood; twin grandsons, Zachary and Jake Driver and granddaughter, Ally Driver of Brentwood; brother and sisters-in-law, Walter and Andy Ware of Mount Juliet; Pasty Ware of Oak Ridge; Sandy Ware Nuchols of Clinton; Rebecca Ware Brown of Nashville; cousins, James and Barbara Woody and Polly Woody of Knoxville. Special thanks to the caregivers at NHC Fort Sanders. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chancel Choir Fund or to UMCOR through First United Methodist Church, 3316 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 18, 2015, from 6:00-8:00pm at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway. A graveside service will be held Monday, January 19, 2015 at 11:00am at Oak Ridge Memorial Gardens with Rev. Tom Seay officiating. Members of the Pilgrimage Class will be Honorary Pall Bearers.
