Nellie Katherine Gamble

Nellie Katherine Spitzer Gamble of Knoxville went to be with the Lord on April 20, 2014. She was a native of Lake City, TN. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Lawrence Wilbert Gamble, her mother Mary Graham, her brother C.L. (Jack) Spitzer, and her sister Geneva Spitzer Phillips.

She is survived by her daughter Gail Gamble Reed, her son Douglas Andrew Gamble and wife Sybil, and her daughter Laura Gamble Ballew and husband Craig. She also had many grandchildren whom she was very proud of Melissa &Julia Reed, Mary & Sam Johnson, Allen & Kristen Ballew and Bill & Sierra Gamble. Her great grandchildren Rebecca (Anthony), Brandon, Regan, Armon, Carder, Josiah, Brooklyn and Emerson. “Special” family members Lois & Jesse Holt and Dale & Angela Ballard. She is also survived by her half-brothers Donnie (Cathy) and Dennis Graham. Sisters in law Ina Lou Mack and Opal Gamble. Aunt Hope Jordon of La Follette and many nieces and nephews of the Gamble, Spitzer, and Graham families.

Katherine was a member Calvary Baptist Church and an active member of the community. She served as a member of the Pilot Club of Knoxville volunteering at the Alzheimer’s Tennessee office and the Fantasy of Trees. She and her husband were active members of the GOP and served as precincts chairs for many years. As the wife of a veteran of WWII she joined the DAV auxiliary and the 11th Armored Division auxiliary.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday 23, 2014 from 4 to7pm at Weaver’s Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the chapel with Dr. Larry D. Reesor, Dr. Dan Riley and Rev. Ward Ashley officiating. Interment will be Thursday 24, 2014 at 10am at Gamble Cemetery in Oak Ridge, TN. Honorary pall bearers will be Bill Gamble, Allen Ballew, Brandon Watson, Dale Ballard, Anthony Cespedes, & Sam Johnson.
