

Dr. Nick Steve Wright, DVM was born and raised in Livingston, Tennessee.
After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from Tennessee Tech, Nick was drafted into the Army and served in Vietnam. He was awarded three medals, one of which was the National Defense Service Medal. Upon his discharge from the service, he returned to college and earned his Masters of Biology and began working for the Tennessee Department of Public Health. During his time at Tennessee Tech, Nick met his beautiful wife Brenda, and they were married a short time later. Nick and his wife were very faith driven and shared their lives and home with anyone who was in need of help. Their joy of life will be forever cherished.
Nick decided to return to college, this time to the University of Tennessee and their up-and-coming veterinary program. He graduated from the third ever class with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1981. He continued with his vet practice up until his retirement in 2024. Nick was also a faithful alumnus to his high school, Livingston Academy in Livingston, TN, as well as both colleges he attended, The University of Tennessee in Knoxville and Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, TN.
Nick is survived by his loving wife, Brenda King Wright; two of his sisters, Edna Isbell and Nancy Cichy; as well as numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be welcomed in Nick’s honor for the Young Williams Animal Center in Knoxville, Tiger Haven in Kingston, and the University of Tennessee Veterinary Medicine Fund. Links for donations are listed below.
A visitation for Nick will be held Wednesday, February 19, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Berry Highland West, 9913 Sherrill Blvd, Knoxville, TN 37932, with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM. A committal service will take place Thursday, February 20, 2025 at 10:00 AM at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, located at 2200 E. Gov. John Sevier Hwy 168, Knoxville, TN 37920.
