Paul Douglas Kelley

Paul D. Kelley, age 79 of Lenoir City, TN passed away Sunday, September 24, 2017 from complications of ALS. Originally from Birmingham, Alabama he graduated from Woodlawn High School, class of 1956 where he was a football player. He graduated from Auburn University with a B.S. in Industrial Management. He had a passion for missionary work and served two years in China under the auspices of the International Missionary Board. He also had a passion for Southern Baptist Disaster Relief work. Paul's employment took him to Virginia, Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee. His mission work and employment took him to Montana, Alaska and China. He was an avid hunter, snow and cross country skier. Paul was very active in church and was a devoted Bible teacher. Upon moving to Morning Pointe, Paul found great joy in being a member of the choir. Preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Rolene Kelley; brother, Neil Kelley. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Joanna; sons, Joseph Kelley of Mount Dora, FL and James Kelley of Memphis, TN and extended family. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 28th at Highland Park Baptist Church in Lenoir City, TN from 5:00-7:00 pm with the service to follow. Dr. Mark Partin, Rev. Eddie Click and Rev. Randy Lawson officiating. Receiving of friends will be held at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel, 1500 Gadsen Hwy., Birmingham, AL 35235 Saturday, September 30th from 10:00-11:00 am. Graveside service will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Birmingham, AL.
