

Ray Hutson Pate passed away peacefully on April 20, 2022. He was born November 5, 1945 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee and was a graduate of Powell High School Class of 1963. Ray met the love of his life, Linda, and married her in 1969. They proceeded to have one son, Jason.
Ray started working as a welder at the age of 25 and became a Sheet Metal Journeyman in Sheet Metal Workers Local 5. In 1989, Ray Pate and his business partners opened JBM Incorporated. Ray held 4 patents in the US Patent Office in his field.
Ray was a perfect combination of intelligence, a wonderful sense of humor, and fearlessness. The success of his business allowed Ray’s generous spirit to thrive. He enjoyed sharing his love of traveling with his family and friends. On any given weekend, Ray could be found at the lake or the slot machines at Harrah’s.
The most important thing in Ray’s life was his family. He worked toward one goal in life, to provide for and care for his family and he excelled.
He is preceded in death by his parents William Alexander Pate and Lily Benita Hutson Pate; father-in-law Eugene Mauney; business partners Ruel Ball and Jim Stiles.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years Linda Lee Mauney Pate and son Jason Eugene Pate (Juan Martinez); brother William Pate V (Nancy); niece Brittany Southerland (Dustin); nephews Matt Pate (Melissa) and Todd Pate (Lorie); sister-in-law Paula Aethranis (Michael); mother-in-law Betty Mauney; great nephew Evan Southerland; great nephews and nieces; his JBM employees and countless friends he has made throughout the years.
Family will receive friends, Sunday, April 24th at Weaver Funeral Home in the Dogwood Room from 6:00-8:00 pm.
Family and friends will meet at 9:45 am Monday, April 25th at Oak Ridge Memorial Park for a 10:00 am graveside service.
Pallbearers: Jason Pate, Juan Martinez, Mike Aethranis, Dustin Southerland, Evan Southerland, and Mack Stiles. Honorary pall bearers: William Pate V, Matt Pate, and Todd Pate.
