Ms. Rebekah Katherine Strand, 35, passed away in Knoxville, TN on August 29, 2024, at home with her family after a fierce battle with metastatic melanoma. She was born to Gary Strand and Adriane (Tenney) Dobbins, born and raised in Knoxville. She graduated from East Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish.
She most recently enjoyed working with her mother at her accounting firm and spending her days laughing and joking with her mother and co-workers. Her favorite things were spending time with family & friends, and being in the great outdoors, whatever “that” looked like in the moment. Rebekah loved her daughter, Adeline, more than anything in the world and has left a lasting legacy in her beautiful child that will grow and flourish. Rebekah was an incredibly dedicated mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, and friend. She will always be remembered for her beautiful heart, contagious smile, amazing humor, and a laugh that could brighten any day, any room, no matter the circumstances.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Ray and Delores Strand, Maxine and Phillip Tenney, Aunt Lynnette Esser, and her beloved pets, LeeLoo and Tigger.
She is survived by her daughter, Adeline, father Gary Strand, mother Adriane Dobbins, step-father Robert Dobbins, sister Elise Strand Strickland, niece and nephew: Audrey and Phillip Strickland, and a multitude of cousins, aunts, uncles and friends across the United States and stationed around the world.
Those that knew and loved her are welcomed and encouraged to join our family in celebrating her lasting legacy in our lives. The Receiving of Friends will be held on September 22, 2024 at Berry Highland Memorial, 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919, with receiving of friends from 1:00pm – 3:00pm, and service to follow. Graveside services will commence on September 23, 2024, at 11:00am at the Whispering Waters Cremation Garden at Berry Highland.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Adeline’s college fund which is currently set up through www.GoFundMe.com (search for “Adeline’s Education Fund”). These funds will then be transferred into a 529 plan account for Adeline. Donations are also encouraged to the Thompson Cancer Survival Center in Rebekah’s honor for everything they did for her.
