

Robert “Bob” Peter Herold, age 88, of Knoxville, TN, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 21, 2024. He was born on March 19, 1936, in Philadelphia, PA, to Peter and Margaret (Schuler) Herold.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Dianne (Mather) Herold, and their cherished children, Gwynn (Clay) Johnson and Christopher Herold. He was a proud grandfather to Jillian, Daniel, Zarek, Zoe, and Lilah, and a great-grandfather to Asa and Troy. He is also survived by his sister, Joan (Herold) Partridge.
Bob graduated from Central High School in Philadelphia in 1953 and continued his education at The Pennsylvania State University before earning a Business degree from Temple University in 1966. He had a long and fulfilling career in the insurance industry, notably spending 25 years with The Insurance Company of North America (INA), alongside shorter tenures at Universal Underwriters and John Deere.
A proud veteran, Bob served in the United States Army Security Agency from 1959 to 1962, including a 13-month deployment in South Korea. Throughout his life, Bob lived in several places, including Holland, PA; Buffalo, NY; Exton, PA; and Douglassville, PA, before making Knoxville, TN, his home for the last five years.
Outside of his professional life, Bob was an avid fisherman, finding joy in fishing at the New Jersey shore, where he particularly enjoyed catching bluefish and striped bass. He also had a passion for dancing and enjoyed the rhythms of jazz music.

Bob will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
