Uncle Bobby,

Electronic expert and music guru....this was obvious in the short amount of time that I spent with Uncle Bobby.  When my cd player went on the glitch, it was Bobby that without any hesitation took the reins, when I received it back he filled the box with a endless amount of Christmas music.  We emailed back and forth about my favorite musicians and I learned about his.  I wish we could have spent more time together.  Things just seem to always get in the way.  He took a kind interest in trying to reach out to my children, complete with a package of coca cola memorabilia.  What a kind hearted person.   He must have had some hidden wings.   Bobby....keep up all your good deeds in your new home.  Love you,

Alice and I have been friends for many years. When she met Bob, I thought they made a wonderful couple and I have loved them both through both good times and the bad. I have many good memories throughout the years. I considered Bob  like a brother.  My most precious memory was when my nephew Hayden was little, he absolutely adored Bob and Bob adored him. We have always considered him family.  Alice you took great care of Bob , cherish the memories ❤️

I have known Bob since the early 1970's and we saw each other frequently when we became family.  My wife's "Uncle Bobby". But it took Ginger and Alice to arrange a "play date" for us to spend an afternoon together in his music room. We found out that we had a great deal in common. So we met every Thrusday for years. We were developing a radio program, but that was just the "justification" for an endless discourse about music, Hollywood & TV Westerns, history, politics and the meaning of life. Bob loved God, rescued dogs and feared nothing except maybe snakes. The world is diminished. I miss you.  Denny

As babies we poked each others baby bellies, yours was bigger, splashed water in each others faces, and begged for vanilla wafers. We grew up together, even went to Giffin Elementary School in the same 2nd grade class. I remember catching crawdads from the stream in the park near the school, walking to the Handy Dandy for candy and all those family picnics in the mountains, huge reunions at Helmas, and trips to Roan Highlands, Townsend,, Polk Co. and Washington DC,  When we were older our fun times were spent in your garage hanging out with your teenage band buddies grooving to Louie, Louie. You played the drums and knew all the coolest music. It was the place to be in So Kno. But out of all my 68 years of memories there are 2 that will always stand out. The James Brown concert at Chilhowee Park in 1968, you had to take me because we were visiting  and your mom said it was the right think to do. Thanks for letting me tag along,  i've always thought that was one of the  coolest things in my younger days. The 2nd memory was another concert, Billy Bob Thorton in 2018. This time you gave one of my grandkids the thrill of his young life when you knocked on the tour bus door and told Billy Bob there was a young drummer he needed to meet. That meeting impressed my grandson . He continues to play music. Thank you for being an inspiration. Where ever  the afterlife leads i know you will continue to hear the music and keep the beat. Bob was always very welcoming when I visited my best friend Alice. He was full of knowledge and it was fun talking to him. I remember fondly how handy and crafty he was. I am adding a photo here of the Neuschwanstein like castle he made for me. I will miss seeing Bob when I come to Knoxville to meet up with Alice.

My wife & I have counted Bob & Alice as close friends since they’ve been together.  My friendship with Bob goes back even earlier, to the mid ‘70s when he lived on Dodd Street in S. Knoxville.  We’ve been through quite a bit together.  He was the first person I was ever around that had a huge interest in electronics and top-tier stereo equipment.  There was an entire wall in the living room on Dodd Street that comprised stereo speakers, reel-to-reel, turntable, cassette deck, record albums, etc.  There was even a rolling stand-alone switchboard that contained a working telephone, along with several other components that monitored the various functions of the stereo equipment.

Bob was one of the most generous people I’ve ever known.  He had a vast collection of music, and he would regularly contact me every time he purchased new music CDs, allowing me to take them home and make copies of them.  One of the highlights of our friendship was our trip to Memphis in 2014, where we took in many of the sights and sounds of Beale Street.

Alice went above and beyond the call of duty while caring for Bob during his period of declining health.  Saintly behavior, indeed.  We’ll never forget Bob, but we know he is now in a better place. 


Knew Bobby since we were kids in the same neighborhood. He was a good guy all around. Going to be missed but not forgotten. 

Bob was a good man and a lifelong friend. He would do anything for you and you didn't even have to ask. Alice is a saint and they were good for each other. Anyone would be lucky to have them as friends. Our deepest condolences to Alice and her and Bob's extended family and friends. We will miss him.
