

Tangelyn "Tan" James Dent of Knoxville, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on June 6, 2024. A cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, and beloved friend. "Tan" was born on October 21, 1966 in Ocala, Florida. She was a graduate of Fort Walton Beach High School. "Tan" delighted in the art of crafting, where her creativity flourished. Her hands brought to life a myriad of handmade treasures, each a testament to her dedication and imaginative spirit. Her passion for crafting was evident in the quality and uniqueness of her creations.
Her love for fashion was equally profound, not just in following trends, but in setting them. She had an innate sense of style, a fashionista in her own right.
In every crafted item and fashion ensemble, she left a piece of herself, extraordinary statements of beauty and self-expression.
"Tan" was preceded in death by her father, Eugene James; step-father, Belford Rhodes; son, Alexander Williams; aunt, Altamese Erving; uncles, Earnest Rouse, Maxin Head, Charlie James, Macon James and Ted James.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Charles Dent of Albany, Georgia; mother, Christine Florence Rhodes of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; children, Latoya James Walker (Ron), Andrea Williams; step-daughters, Kelly Dent and Brittany Dent, Michelle Artis; brother, Theodore James; sisters, Tracey Florence, Shelia Florence; step-sisters, Annette Jackson & Arlene Luther; grandchildren, Demetrius James, Kamarion James, Shalayiah Walker; aunts, Dollie Pannell, Rosetta James, Minnie Josie (Bob), Ollie Rouse, Ruby Nell Head; uncles, Richard James, Harry James; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will take place at 12:00 pm Saturday, June 15th at Gregg Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 34 Carson Drive Southeast, Fort Walton Beach, FL, 32548.
