Teresa Gail Young

Teresa Gail Young (Edmonds), age 72 of Knoxville, TN passed away January 9, 2025. Her father was a pastor with the Methodist church for many years, and Teresa was a devout follower and a typical preacher’s kid. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, soaking up sunshine in the pool and going to the beach. Facebook and keeping up with people from all over was an integral part of Teresa’s day after retirement. She was an avid fan of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy and stayed well informed on current events. For more than ten years, she cared for her quadriplegic neighbor and opened her home to many people over the years. She loved and was well loved by many and will be deeply missed.

Preceded in death by father and mother, Robert "Bob" & Jean Edmonds; husband, William Theodore “Ted” Young, Jr.; and son, Derrick Isaiah “Toby” Young.

She is survived by her daughter, Alicia Young (Mike Richey); grandchildren, Xander Lowery, Emily Hoover, and Zoe Richey; brother, Tom Edmonds (Shiryll); nephews, Jon Edmonds (Laura) and Robert Edmonds (Malekka Bradley); longtime family friends, Lisa & Tim Griffith, and their children Gray Griffith and Leigh Seebach (Eric); as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Family will receive friends from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37920, with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 PM. Family and friends will proceed to Sherwood Memorial Gardens immediately following the funeral service for interment.
