Thomas Eugene Houser

Thomas E. Houser, 71, of Maryville, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2017. Tom was a proud father and grandfather. He served our country in the U.S. Marine Corp as a Presidential Guard on Marine One under President Lyndon B. Johnson. He continued his service to the community as an entrepreneur, a driver for CED Electric, and the host for the neighborhood garden and many gatherings around a bonfire. He was preceded by parents, Alvin C. and Mertie L. Houser and his big sister, Loula Mae. Tom is survived by his wife, Joy Houser; children, Danny Houser, Kellie (Steve) Stessman, Tom II (Pam) Houser, and Stacey (Jackie) Steinmetz; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Frances Houser; sisters, Evelyn Cotter, Claudette Boling; several nieces and nephews and numerous friends. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Hwy. Service will follow at 7:00pm with Rev. Byron chambers and with friend Sam Hood officiating. Family and friends will meet Friday at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on Gov. John Sevier Hwy for a 9:30am graveside service.
